I don’t recall that particular cover (it’s lovely), but I do fondly remember Hollywood Studio Magazine. It had some nice pieces and stories on the Golden Age plus a splendid classified section. It was there I learned in 1986 that the recently-deceased Una Merkel had no headstone where she was buried in Kentucky. I sent $5, and now she has one thanks to me and other classic movie buffs.

With the Internet playing such a huge role in the classic Hollywood community, I’m not sure HSM could be successfully revived today. But at that time, it played a major role indeed.

Vincent, I am sure it is tough for specialty magazines like HSM to make it in today’s world, though “Films of the Golden Age” magazine still survives. In general, back in the 70’s and 80’s there were a lot more serious magazines dedicated to films.
